Caves constitute a very interesting and at the same time inherent element of the Jura landscape. There are approximately 1,000 caverns in Jura (over a half of the known caves in Poland). Most know: Wierzchowska Górna, Nietoperzowa and Łokietka i Ciemna in Ojców. Olsztyńska, Maurycego, Studnisko and Koralowa in Sokole Góry near Olsztyn, Wierna and Wiercica in Ostrężnik near Janów, Piętrowa Szczelina in Łutowiec and Januszkowa Szczelina near Olkusz.
Due to excessive exploration some of them are barred and thus accessible only for the members of speleology clubs (a special permission must however be issued by ZZJPK in advance).
Tourists can visit such caves as Wierzchowska Górna, Nietoperzowa , Łokietka, Ciemna Grota and the one in Ojców. . |
