HYDROGRAPHIC SYSTEM
The region discussed here is divided by the watershed between the Vistula and the Odra. The rivers flow hence radially in all directions. Among the most important Vistula affluents, the following should be mentioned: Sanka, Rudna, Rudawa, Pršdnik or Biała and Czarna Przemsza. The affluents of the Odra are: the Warta and its tributaries - Liswarta and Wiercica. The rivers here are fed with ground-water which makes up as much as 70% of the whole, as well as rainfall and snow. The underground system of the Jurassic waters is abundant and represented by many wonderful outflows, e.g. in the area of the Ojców National Park, the Wiercica Valley, or Centuria area. The yield of the springs here often exceeds 10 liter /s, and the temperature of outflowing water oscillates around 8-9° C. The existence of the springs is conditioned by the occurrence of perfectly developed system of karstic cracks. Owing to such a well developed river system and occurrence of such abundant underground waters in the depression (particularly in the Cracow Upland) many swamps constantly appear there.
