The terrain of Wyżyna Krakowsko-Częstochowska has been recognised as particularly precious and therefore it is legally protected due to the beauty of its landscape and the existence of rare flora and fauna species. The day of setting up of the national park in the valley of Prądnik river is the most significant day connected with the above-mentioned fact. The national park of Ojców, despite its relatively small area constitutes one of the most important point on the map for botanists, zoologists, and tourists.
In 1980-82 the complex of the landscape parks in Jura was established , which together with the Jura terrain of protected landscape and the national park of Ojców occupies the area of 255 hectares and thus constitutes the greatest protected region in Poland. The following landscape parks fell under ZJPK: Dłubniański, Dolinek Krakowskich, Tenczyński, Bielańsko-Tyniecki, Rudniański, Orlich Gniazd, Stawki.
The Pustynia Błędowska (desert), being the only area of this kind in central Europe, is also a fascinating place in Jura.
