FLORA AND FAUNA

In the Jurassic, two kinds of woods are dominating, mainly: mixed woods and dry pine woods. Each of them occurs in varying soils with slightly different flora. In the forests here, there are as many as 1600 vascular plant species (!!!). This is a phenomenon of the renown not only in Poland but also in Europe ! The most attention should be paid to endemic plants and relics. The latter arouse the most emotions among biologists, as they appear here in the number of 60 representatives. They are among others: soft-haired cornflower or wonderful mountain leopard`s bane. It would be impossible not to mention characteristic xerothermic plants growing in all sun-exposed rock massifs and existing in number of 300 species. The animal world is represented by all systematic groups. The most characteristic and numerous are birds - 200 species, further - amphibians - 14, reptiles - 7, mammals - 50 species. On each of our routes we can see many insects. Invertebrates here are represented by species of eastern and western part of the Eurasian continent. To a lesser extent there are species typical of the Mediterranean and mountain areas.
